Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDEFEFGHGHIJIJ KDKLMGMGJAJLI know a wonderful land I said | A |
Where the skies are always blue | B |
Where on chocolate drops are the children fed | A |
And coconut cookies too | B |
Where puppy dogs romp at the children's feet | C |
And the liveliest kittens play | D |
And little tin soldiers guard the street | C |
To frighten the bears away | D |
This land is reached by a wonderful ship | E |
That sails on a golden tide | F |
But never a grown up makes the trip | E |
It is only a children's ride | F |
And never a cross patch journeys there | G |
And never a pouting face | H |
For it is the Land of Smiling where | G |
A frown is a big disgrace | H |
Oh you board the ship when the sun goes down | I |
And over a gentle sea | J |
You slip away from the noisy town | I |
To the land of the chocolate tree | J |
And there till the sun comes over the hill | K |
You frolic and romp and play | D |
And of candy and cake you eat your fill | K |
With no one to tell you 'Nay ' | L |
So come It is time for the ship to go | M |
To this wonderful land so fair | G |
And gently the summer breezes blow | M |
To carry you safely there | G |
So come Set sail on this golden sea | J |
To the land that is free from dread | A |
'I know what you mean ' she said to me | J |
'An' I don't wanna go to bed ' | L |
