The Lonely Garden Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDEEFGAA AAHHIJJDICAA KKLLGGMMCDAA

I WONDER what the trees will sayA
The trees that used to share his playA
An' knew him as the little ladB
Who used to wander with his dadB
They've watched him grow from year to yearC
Since first the good Lord sent him hereD
This shag bark hick'ry many a timeE
The little fellow tried t' climbE
An' never a spring has come but lieF
Has called upon his favorite treeG
I wonder what they all will sayA
When they are told he's marched awayA
-
I wonder what the birds will sayA
I'lie swallow an' the chatterin' jayA
The robin an' the kildeer tooH
For every one o' them he knewH
An' every one o' them knew himI
Waited each spring t' tell him allJ
They'd done and seen since 'way last fallJ
He was the first to greet 'em hereD
An' hoppin' there from limb t' limbI
As they returned from year t' yearC
An' now I wonder what they'll sayA
When they are told he's marched awayA
-
I wonder how the roses thereK
Will get along without his careK
An' how the one o' them will faceL
The loneliness about th' placeL
For ev'ry spring an' summer heG
Has been the chum o' plant an' treeG
An' every livin' thing has knownM
A comradeship that's finer grownM
By havin' him from year t' yearC
Now very soon they'll all be hereD
An' I'm wonderin' what they'll sayA
When they find out he's marched awayA
