The Homes Of Joy Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFF GGHHII JJKKDD

I LIKE the homes where a Teddy BearA
Monopolizes the best arm chairA
Where the sofa a rag doll occupiesB
And a train of cars in the corner liesB
For those are the signs that the home is gladC
With a little girl or a little ladC
-
Give me the home that is all upsetD
Where neatness isn't forever metD
Where a parlor floor isn't always straightE
With its rugs in place That's as grim as FateE
I want a home that is strewn with toysF
Denoting the presence of girls and boysF
-
Let me gaze on buggies and Teddy BearsG
And dolls asleep in the company chairsG
Let me see in the corner when I come inH
A battle front of soldiers tinH
And a train of cars in a twisted heapI
And I'll know that the youngsters are sound asleepI
-
And I'll be glad that you've let me comeJ
To the home of trumpet and horn and drumJ
To the happy haunts where the children playK
I'll be glad of the toys that are in my wayK
My house is childless and neat and yetD
My heart with its toys still remains upsetD
