The Home-town Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGBGB HIHIADAD HJHKLMLM

Some folks leave home for moneyA
And some leave home for fameB
Some seek skies always sunnyA
And some depart in shameB
I care not what the reasonC
Men travel east and westD
Or what the month or seasonC
The home town is the bestD
-
The home town is the glad townE
Where something real abidesF
'Tis not the money mad townE
That all its spirit hidesF
Though strangers scoff and flout itG
And even jeer its nameB
It has a charm about itG
No other town can claimB
-
The home town skies seem bluerH
Than skies that stretch awayI
The home town friends seem truerH
And kinder through the dayI
And whether glum or cheeryA
Light hearted or depressedD
Or struggle fit or wearyA
I like the home town bestD
-
Let him who will go wanderH
To distant towns to liveJ
Of some things I am fonderH
Than all they have to giveK
The gold of distant placesL
Could not repay me quiteM
For those familiar facesL
That keep the home town brightM
