The First Rule Of Golf Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BABA CA DADAEEEA FAFAGGGA HAHAIII

In which Ye Ed attempts the millionaire's game and obeys the first rule of golf which is to put back the turfA
-
-
We stood at the tee and the driver we swungB
Then we put back the turfA
At the ball then a thing called the 'mashie ' we flungB
Then we put back the turfA
'There's a fine mid iron shot I am sure you can do '-
Said a friend 'you should get on the green then in two '-
We tried it then painted the atmosphere blueC
And put back the turfA
-
We tried for a shot o'er a bunker aheadD
Then we put back the turfA
We attempted to loft but the ball remained deadD
Then we put back the turfA
We tackled the niblick the putter the cleekE
They went through the air with a whistle and shriekE
And our manner was humble and abject and meekE
As we put back the turfA
-
We posed a la Travers and let the club goF
Then we put back the turfA
The pellet was nicely addressed for a blowF
Then we put back the turfA
Out there on the links with the sun shining warmG
To watch us the spectators came in a swarmG
And they freely remarked on our wonderful formG
As we put back the turfA
-
At the first second third fourth and fifth holes men seeH
Where we put back the turfA
From the fifth to the ninth it's as plain as can beH
Where we put back the turfA
And we answered when asked as we sat at a mealI
Our honest opinion of golf to revealI
'It's great but it's terribly hard on the heelI
When you put back the turf '-
