Dead they left Him in the tombA
And the impenetrable gloomA
Rolled the great stone to the doorB
Dead they thought forevermoreB
-
Then came Mary MagdaleneC
Weeping to that bitter sceneC
And she found to her dismayD
That the stone was rolled awayD
-
Cometh Peter then and JohnE
Him they'd loved to look uponE
And they found His linen thereB
Left within the sepulcherB
-
'They have taken Him away '-
Mary cried that Easter DayD
Low she heard a voice behindF
'Whom is it you seek to find '-
-
'Tell me where He is ' she criedG
'Him they scourged and crucifiedG
Here we left Him with the dead '-
'Mary Mary ' Jesus saidH
-
So by Mary MagdaleneC
First the risen Christ was seenC
And from every heart that dayD
Doubt's great stone was rolled awayD
