The Fight Worth While Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABACDEDE FGFGHIHI JKJKFLFL HMHMNFNF

fight worth while on this good old earthA
Isn't the fight for a hoard of gold IB
It isn't the fight to increase your worthA
In stocks and bonds and things to holdC
It isn't the fight for a higher placeD
For a meed of power for a little whileE
Or to finish first in the grinding raceD
And to bask in glory and pomp and styleE
-
The fight worth while is the fight to beF
Unfettered here by the cords of viceG
To set your soul from your body freeF
To be unswerved by a yellow priceG
To win the love of your fellowmenH
To be a man that they all respectI
To lose a fight but to fight againH
With your shoulders square and your head erectI
-
This is the fight worth while todayJ
To have ideals and to cling to themK
To live your life in your own good wayJ
In spite of the scoffers who may condemnK
To be willing to fail if the victoryF
Would lower your standard of what is rightL
To be poor in purse if you have to beF
But rich in spirit Here is a fightL
-
To ask no favors from any manH
To conquer yourself and to face the strifeM
With courage born of your own made planH
To do your best with your term of lifeM
To shirk no task that you find to doN
However bitter it seems to beF
And at last when the battle of earth is throughN
To be ready to die is victoryF
