The Dreams Of Youth Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCCCD EEFGHIJG GGCKGGGK GGGLFFCL BBMNEEFN

The dreams of youth are fairestA
The dreams of youth are rarestB
The dreams of youth are brighterC
Than the dreams we'll know againD
Hope is the fairy weaverC
For youth a firm believerC
And great the things we'll masterC
In the days when we are menD
-
There's neither pain nor sorrowE
In the great and grand tomorrowE
For the boy who lies a dreamingF
Underneath the apple treeG
There's neither hate nor maliceH
In the shining golden chaliceI
The painter of the future holdsJ
For every boy to seeG
-
For his eyes are turned to gladnessG
And he sees no tear of sadnessG
In the visions of the futureC
That his soul is drinking inK
In the days to come he'll journeyG
With a brave heart to life's tourneyG
And he dreams about the prizesG
That in future years he'll winK
-
But the dreams of age are drearyG
For the soul is O so wearyG
And the mind goes back in sadnessG
To the deeds we might have doneL
And too late we sit repiningF
Soon our sun will cease its shiningF
Deep regret now paints the pictureC
Of the prize we might have wonL
-
Ah the future is the brightestB
And its troubles are the lightestB
For the past is filled with anguishM
And with disappointments tooN
Age has trod the paths of sorrowE
He has known each glad tomorrowE
But youth is ever dreamingF
Of the things he's going to doN
