The Don't Believers Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGEGE EEEE EEE BEBEHEHE

The new fangled churches that don't believe I thingsA
Aren't the churches that satisfy meB
I 'm firm in my notion that angels wear wingsA
An' Heaven is a place we shall seeB
I 'm an old fashioned man full of old fashioned waysC
An' these up to date doubtings seem oddD
What they don't believe folks talk about nowadaysC
But I 'm still believing in GodD
-
Some don't believe this an' some don't believe thatE
Some don't believe Heaven is a placeF
The don't believe sermons they 're preaching are flatE
For of old fashioned faith there's no traceF
They've torn up the Bible an' proved it's not soG
They doubt man was made from a clodE
What they don't believe seems to be all that they knowG
But I 'm still believing in GodE
-
There isn't much left of religion todayE
The thinkers have busily sweptE
Most all of the faiths that we once had awayE
An' few of us know what they've keptE
It's ' don't believe this ' an' ' don't believe that '-
An' blinded they 'd leave us to plodE
An' old fashioned man hardly knows where he's atE
But I 'm still believing in GodE
-
What men don't believe doesn't interest meB
I 'd far rather learn what they doE
I believe in the green of the grass an' the treeB
I believe in the sunshine an' dewE
I believe in the love that makes living worth whileH
I believe we shall rise from the sodE
To a mansion in Heaven where our dear ones shall smileH
An' I 'm still believing in GodE
