| And seems so glad to have him come | B |
| He jabs my ribs and wants to know | A |
| If here and there it's hurting some | B |
| He holds my wrist coz there are things | C |
| In there which always jump and jerk | D |
| Then with a telephone he brings | C |
| He listens to my breather work | D |

| He taps my back and pinches me | E |
| Then hangs a mirror on his head | F |
| And looks into my throat to see | E |
| What makes it hurt and if it's red | F |
| Then on his knee he starts to write | G |
| And says to mother with a smile | H |
| 'This ought to fix him up all right | G |
| We'll cure him in a little while ' | - |

| Whenever I don't want to play | I |
| He says 'The boy is sick I know | A |
| Let's get the doctor right away ' | - |
| And when he comes he shakes his hand | J |
| And hustles him upstairs to me | E |
| And seems contented just to stand | J |
| Inside the room where he can see | E |

| Then Pa says every time he goes | K |
| 'That's money I am glad to pay | I |
| It's worth it when a fellow knows | K |
| His pal will soon be up to play ' | - |
| But maybe if my Pa were me | E |
| And had to take his pills and all | L |
| He wouldn't be so glad to see | E |
| The doctor come to make a call | L |
