The Doctor Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHG AIA JEJE KIK ELEL

I don't see why Pa likes him soA
And seems so glad to have him comeB
He jabs my ribs and wants to knowA
If here and there it's hurting someB
He holds my wrist coz there are thingsC
In there which always jump and jerkD
Then with a telephone he bringsC
He listens to my breather workD
-
He taps my back and pinches meE
Then hangs a mirror on his headF
And looks into my throat to seeE
What makes it hurt and if it's redF
Then on his knee he starts to writeG
And says to mother with a smileH
'This ought to fix him up all rightG
We'll cure him in a little while '-
-
I don't see why Pa likes him soA
Whenever I don't want to playI
He says 'The boy is sick I knowA
Let's get the doctor right away '-
And when he comes he shakes his handJ
And hustles him upstairs to meE
And seems contented just to standJ
Inside the room where he can seeE
-
Then Pa says every time he goesK
'That's money I am glad to payI
It's worth it when a fellow knowsK
His pal will soon be up to play '-
But maybe if my Pa were meE
And had to take his pills and allL
He wouldn't be so glad to seeE
The doctor come to make a callL
