The Crucible Of Life Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEFF GGAAFF HHIIFF

Sunshine and shadow blue sky and grayA
Laughter and tears as we tread on our wayA
Hearts that are heavy then hearts that are lightB
Eyes that are misty and eyes that are brightB
Losses and gains in the heat of the strifeC
Each in proportion to round out his lifeC
-
Into the crucible stirred by the yearsD
Go all our hopes and misgivings and fearsD
Glad days and sad days our pleasures and painsE
Worries and comforts our losses and gainsE
Out of the crucible shall there not comeF
Joy undefiled when we pour off the scumF
-
Out of the sadness and anguish and woeG
Out of the travail and burdens we knowG
Out of the shadow that darkens the wayA
Out of the failure that tries us to dayA
Have you a doubt that contentment will comeF
When you've purified life and discarded the scumF
-
Tinctured with sorrow and flavored with sighsH
Moistened with tears that have flowed from your eyesH
Perfumed with sweetness of loves that have diedI
Leavened with failures with grief sanctifiedI
Sacred and sweet is the joy that must comeF
From the furnace of life when you've poured off the scumF
