Rhyme Scheme: ABCDCD EFEFCGCG HIHICJCJ

o gather the tares and chaffA
But sow with a cheerful airB
Here's to the smiling menC
Who giving can take a blowD
And rise to the fight againC
When others have laid them lowD
-
Here's to the men who grinE
When plans that they build go wrongF
And straightway new plans beginE
With courage and purpose strongF
Here's to the glad brave menC
Who battling expect a bruiseG
And rise to the fight againC
Undaunted by fights they loseG
-
Here's to the men who smileH
With faith in the morning lightI
And bravely await the whileH
Till victory crowns their fightI
Here's to the fighting menC
That always need not succeedJ
To rise to the fight againC
The brave in defeat we needJ
