The Boy's Ideal Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDBBEEFFBBGGHH IIJJ

I must be fit for a child to play withA
Fit for a youngster to walk away withA
Fit for his trust and fit to beB
Ready to take him upon my kneeB
Whether I win or I lose my fightC
I must be fit for my boy at nightC
I must be fit for a child to come toD
Speech there is that I must be dumb toD
I must be fit for his eyes to seeB
He must find nothing of shame in meB
Whatever I make of myself I mustE
Square to my boy's unfaltering trustE
I must be fit for a child to followF
Scorning the places where loose men wallowF
Knowing how much he shall learn from meB
I must be fair as I'd have him beB
I must come home to him day by dayG
Clean as the morning I went awayG
I must be fit for a child's glad greetingH
His are eyes that there is no cheatingH
He must behold me in every testI
Not at my worst but my very bestI
He must be proud when my life is doneJ
To have men know that he is my sonJ
