The Average Man Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCAA DDAAEEAA FFGGHHAA

MINE is a song of the average manA
Who has been on earth since the world beganA
You'll find him kind and you'll find him trueB
You'll find him cheerful and happy tooB
He's never proud and he's never meanC
He walks the earth with a conscience cleanC
The squarest fellow that God could planA
On earth today is the average manA
-
He loves his wife and he loves his homeD
He isn't the fellow who likes to roamD
He keeps his love for his fellow manA
And bears his burden as best he canA
He's a gentle neighbor a faithful friendE
And will fight for him to the bitter endE
The decentest fellow that God could planA
On earth today is the average manA
-
The average man doesn't cheat or lieF
Or wrong his brothers He doesn't tryF
To climb to glory and gain the crownG
By pulling a weaker brother downG
He's always found on the side of rightH
His creed is always a spotless whiteH
And oft as the wrongs of the world I scanA
I thank the Lord for the average manA
