Tell Him Why Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGDGD HIJICDCD

When your boy wants to do what he shouldn'tA
Some foolish or dangerous thingB
Or something you wish that he wouldn'tA
A deed that disaster may bringB
That he must not you hasten to tell himC
And threaten him should he defyD
With a positive order you quell himC
But do you explain to him whyD
-
When you want him to do what he should doE
When you're eager to have him politeF
When its something you know that he could doE
Do you train him with reason or frightF
You may say that he 'must' or severelyG
With him you will deal by and byD
You see why it's proper most clearlyG
But do you explain to him whyD
-
A boy's mind is open to reasonH
A thinking device is his brainI
Injustice he's ready to seize onJ
So why don't you stop to explainI
It's perfectly proper to check himC
When you see that in danger he'd flyD
But it certainly sure that you'll wreck himC
Unless you explain to him whyD
