St. Valentine's Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBACD EFFEGH IAAIJJ KLMKNN

Let loose the sails of love and let them fillA
With breezes sweet with tenderness to dayB
Scorn not the praises youthful lovers sayB
Romance is old but it is lovely stillA
Not he who shows his love deserves the jeerC
But he who speaks not what she longs to hearD
-
There is no shame in love's devoted speechE
Man need not blush his tenderness to showF
'Tis shame to love and never let her knowF
To keep his heart forever out of reachE
Not he the fool who lets his love go onG
But he who spurns it when his love is wonH
-
Men proudly vaunt their love of gold and fameI
High station and accomplishments of skillA
Yet of life's greatest conquest they are stillA
And deem it weakness or an act of shameI
To seem to place high value on the loveJ
Which first of all they should be proudest ofJ
-
Let loose the sails of love and let them takeK
The tender breezes till the day be spentL
Only the fool chokes out life's sentimentM
She is a prize too lovely to forsakeK
Be not ashamed to send your valentineN
She has your love but needs its outward signN
