Spoiling Them Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGHH IJJKKLL MMNNOPQ

'You're spoiling them ' the mother criesA
When I give way to weepy eyesA
And let them do the things they wishB
Like cleaning up the jelly dishB
Or finishing the chocolate cakeC
Or maybe let the rascal takeC
My piece of huckleberry pieD
Because he wants it more than ID
-
'You're spoiling them ' the mother tellsE
When I am heedless to their yellsE
And let them race and romp aboutF
And do not put their joy to routF
I know I should be firm and yetG
I tried it once to my regretG
I will remember till I'm oldH
The day I started in to scoldH
-
I stamped my foot and shouted 'Stop '-
And Bud just let his drum sticks dropI
And looked at me and turned awayJ
That night there was no further playJ
The girls were solemn like and stillK
Just as girls are when they are illK
And when unto his cot I creptL
I found him sobbing as he sleptL
-
That was my first attempt and lastM
To play the scold I'm glad it passedM
So quickly and has left no traceN
Of memory on each little faceN
But now when mother whispers lowO
'You're spoiling them ' I answer 'NoP
But it is plain as plain can beQ
Those little tykes are spoiling me '-
