Prayer For The Home Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC DDEEA FFGGHH IIJKLL

Peace unto this house I prayA
Keep terror and despair awayA
Shield it from evil and let sinB
Never find lodging room withinB
May never in these walls be heardC
The hateful or accusing wordC
-
Grant that its warm and mellow lightD
May be to all a beacon brightD
A flaming symbol that shall stirE
The beating pulse of him or herE
Who finds this door and seems to sayA
'Here end the trials of the day '-
-
Hold us together gentle LordF
Who sit about this humble boardF
May we be spared the cruel fateG
Of those whom hatreds separateG
Here let love bind us fast that weH
May know the joys of unityH
-
Lord this humble house we'd keepI
Sweet with play and calm with sleepI
Help us so that we may giveJ
Beauty to the lives we liveK
Let Thy love and let Thy graceL
Shine upon our dwelling placeL
