I know it doesn't need my throat | A |
My lungs and larynx too | B |
And so I sit at home at night | C |
And teach my children what is right | C |
And wise for them to do | B |
And when I'm on the job by day | D |
I do my best to earn my pay | D |

Though arguments may rage and roar | E |
I grease the hinges on my door | E |
And paint the porches blue | B |
I love this splendid land of ours | F |
And so I plant the seeds and flowers | F |
And watch them bursting through | B |
I never stand upon a box | G |
To say we're headed for the rocks | G |

My notion of a patriot | H |
Is one who guards his little cot | I |
And keeps it up to date | J |
Who pays his taxes when they're due | B |
And pays his bills for groc'ries too | B |
And dresses well his mate | J |
He keeps his children warmly clad | K |
And lets them know they have a dad | K |

The nation's safe as long as men | L |
Get to their work and back again | L |
Each day with cheerful smile | M |
So long as there are fathers who | B |
Rejoice in what they have to do | B |
And find their homes worth while | M |
The Stars and Stripes will wave on high | N |
And liberty will never die | N |
