On Quitting Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDEFFGG HHDDIIAAJJKK LLMMKK

How much grit do you think you've gotA
Can you quit a thing that you like a lotA
You may talk of pluck it's an easy wordB
And where'er you go it is often heardB
But can you tell to a jot or guessC
Just how much courage you now possessC
You may stand to trouble and keep your grinD
But have you tackled self disciplineE
Have you ever issued commands to youF
To quit the things that you like to doF
And then when tempted and sorely swayedG
Those rigid orders have you obeyedG
-
Don't boast of your grit till you've tried it outH
Nor prate to men of your courage stoutH
For it's easy enough to retain a grinD
In the face of a fight there's a chance to winD
But the sort of grit that is good to ownI
Is the stuff you need when you're all aloneI
How much grit do you think you've gotA
Can you turn from joys that you like a lotA
Have you ever tested yourself to knowJ
How far with yourself your will can goJ
If you want to know if you have gritK
Just pick out a joy that you like and quitK
-
It's bully sport and it's open fightL
It will keep you busy both day and nightL
For the toughest kind of a game you'll findM
Is to make your body obey your mindM
And you never will know what is meant by gritK
Unless there's something you've tried to quitK
