| And tired of continuous debate | B |
| When the speaker like some hurdy gurdy | B |
| Which carries on early and late | B |
| Keeps up a monotonous bellow | C |
| On lessons I don't want to learn | D |
| 'Tis then I give cheers for the fellow | C |
| Who rises and moves to adjourn | D |

| There are motions to lay on the table | E |
| There are motions for this and for that | B |
| And I stick just as long as I'm able | E |
| And hark to the chatterer's chat | B |
| I stand for the rising thanks motion | F |
| For the one who has done a good turn | D |
| But my friend is the chap with the notion | F |
| To get up and move to adjourn | D |

| There are some who like papers and speeches | G |
| And open discussions of things | H |
| The heights some new orator reaches | G |
| The lesson and message he brings | H |
| But each his own fancy must cling to | B |
| What one chooses others may spurn | D |
| So this simple tribute I sing to | B |
