Mark Twain Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABB CCDD EEFF GGHH

MARK TWAIN is dead No no that cannot beA
Say rather Clemens knows life's mysteryA
Say rather Clemens has been called aboveB
But Twain still lives for all the world to loveB
-
Mark Twain is dead 'T is false I'll not believeC
For Clemens only will I pause to grieveC
But Twain still lives 't is Clemens passes byD
Mark Twain Mark Twain was never born to dieD
-
The hand that held the pen is nerveless nowE
The chill of death rests coldly on his browE
The voice that made us laugh will speak no moreF
But Twain still lives to cheer us as beforeF
-
'T is Clemens who has torn the veil asideG
Who knows what is beyond the great divideG
'T is Clemens who is gone who leaves behindH
Mark Twain to cheer and comfort humankindH
