Rhyme Scheme: ABCCDDEEFFDGHH IIJJDDK LLABMMNN

nd he had a ready earA
For the busy tongue of fearB
And he had a timid mindC
Unto fretfulness inclinedC
Filled with many reasons whyD
It was vain for him to tryD
Given a task he'd shake his headE
'Can't do that ' he often saidE
'Times are hard and none will stayF
Listen to the words I sayF
It is futile now to tryD
People simply will not buy 'G
Thus he walked the streets of tradeH
Both discouraged and afraidH
-
But another kind of manI
Thought this way 'Perhaps I canI
If I will supply the pluckJ
Fortune may provide the luckJ
If I have the grit to tryD
There are people who may buyD
Anyhow I'll not submitK
To defeat before I'm hit '-
One was beaten from the startL
Beaten by his doubting heartL
Beaten when he gave his earA
To the busy tongue of fearB
But another with his chanceM
Seized the moment to advanceM
And came happy home at nightN
Just because he dared to fightN
