Lines To The Wash Woman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED DFDF GHGH DBDB ADAD

LADY when you say you'll comeA
Tuesday morn to do our washingB
Tell us if there isn't someA
Way to know if you are joshingB
-
When you promise to be hereC
Toiling at our tubs and wringersD
And we think you are sincereE
Tell us do you cross your fingersD
-
When we show you round our placeD
And you vow you'll come and clean itF
How we ask you to your faceD
Can we know you really mean itF
-
You with promises are glibG
This we do not say to grieve youH
But so many times you fibG
Tell us when can we believe youH
-
Lady when we rise at sixD
Just to get the water boilingB
We are in a sorry fixD
When you dodge your day of toilingB
-
All your failures leave us glumA
It's a shame to waste a day soD
If you do not mean to comeA
Why on earth do you not say soD
