Independence Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDD EFEFGHII JKJLMMFF

WHAT does it all mean anywayA
Noise of cannon and boom of gunB
Deafening colorful fire displayA
Starting in with the rising sunB
Ah it means that this land of oursC
Fringed with mountains and decked with flowersC
Warm with sunshine and wet with dewD
Is dear to the hearts of her people trueD
-
Every whizzing rocket that seeks the skyE
And bursts in beauty the world aboveF
Proclaims aloud as it journeys highE
A nation's pride and a nation's loveF
It seems to speak of her wonders hereG
Her mines so rich and her skies so clearH
Her harvests grand and her waving pinesI
Her fields of green and her creeping vinesI
-
Oh a glorious day is this day we keepJ
For under the noise and the powder scentK
Is a strain of love that is wide and deepJ
A touch of a nation's sentimentL
Love of country the cannon speaksM
Love of freedom the rocket shrieksM
Love of the flag that waves aboveF
This is the meaning a nation's loveF
