Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCDB EBEBFFFB GBGBHH B IBIBJJKB

When something or other has made him feel gladA
His rattle he throws on the floorB
The times he is good and the times he is badA
His rattle he throws on the floorB
When there is a smile on his pink little faceC
Or a pin that is holding his garments in placeC
Has slipped from its moorings he makes a grimaceD
And his rattle he throws on the floorB
-
When we are alone for the meal we call teaE
His rattle he throws on the floorB
And on the occasions we have companyE
His rattle he throws on the floorB
When the cat strokes her side on the leg of his chairF
When no one is looking or when we all stareF
When he's tired or he isn't of sitting up thereF
His rattle he throws on the floorB
-
When he thinks that he ought to have something to eatG
His rattle he throws on the floorB
When he's eaten too much his most usual featG
His rattle he throws on the floorB
When he's hot when he's cold when he's bold when he's shyH
When he's thinking of starting or stopping a cryH
Before waving 'how do' to his dad or 'good bye '-
His rattle he throws on the floorB
-
And his mother does nothing but wait on him whenI
His rattle he throws on the floorB
She recovers it for him but straightway againI
His rattle he throws on the floorB
Out of patience we once on the floor let it stayJ
But he put up a howl for he wanted to playJ
So relenting we gave it to him and straightwayK
His rattle he threw on the floorB
