Golf Luck Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABACAC DEDEFGFG HIJIKCKC ALALCCCC

As a golfer I'm not one who cops the moneyA
I shall always be a member of the dubsB
There are times my style is positively funnyA
I am awkward in my handling of the clubsB
I am not a skillful golfer nor a pluckyA
But this about myself I proudly sayC
When I win a hole by freaky stroke or luckyA
I never claim I played the shot that wayC
-
There are times despite my blundering behaviorD
When fortune seems to follow at my heelsE
Now and then I play supremely in her favorD
And she lets me pull the rankest sort of stealsE
She'll give to me the friendliest assistanceF
I'll jump a ditch at times when I should notG
I'll top the ball and get a lot of distanceF
But I don't claim that's how I played the shotG
-
I've hooked a ball when just that hook I neededH
And wondered how I ever turned the trickI
I've thanked my luck for what a friendly tree didJ
Although my fortune made my rival sickI
Sometimes my shots turn out just as I planned 'emK
The sort of shots I usually playC
But when up to the cup I chance to land 'emK
I never claim I played 'em just that wayC
-
There's little in my game that will commend meA
I'm not a shark who shoots the course in parL
I need good fortune often to befriend meA
I have my faults and know just what they areL
I play golf in a desperate do or die wayC
And into traps and trouble oft I strayC
But when by chance the breaks are coming my wayC
I do not claim I played the shots that wayC
