Folks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDBEB FGHHGIJKJ LMNMOPQQP CPRPSPTP ABUBDBNNB

We was speakin' of folks jes' common folksA
An' we come to this conclusionB
That wherever they be on land or seaC
They warm to a home allusionB
That under the skin an' under the hideD
There's a spark that starts a glowin'B
Whenever they look at a scene or bookE
That something of home is showin'B
-
They may differ in creeds an' politicsF
They may argue an' even quarrelG
But their throats grip tightH
If they catch a sightH
Of their favorite elm or laurelG
An' the winding lane that they used to treadI
With never a care to fret 'emJ
Or the pasture gate where they used to waitK
Right under the skin will get 'emJ
-
Now folks is folks on their different waysL
With their different griefs an' pleasuresM
But the home they knew when their years were fewN
Is the dearest of all their treasuresM
An' the richest man to the poorest waifO
Right under the skin is brotherP
When they stand an' sighQ
With a tear dimmed eyeQ
At a thought of the dear old motherP
-
It makes no difference where it may beC
Nor the fortunes that years may alterP
Be they simple or wise the old home tiesR
Make all of 'em often falterP
Time may robe 'em in sackcloth coarseS
Or garb 'em in gorgeous splendorP
But whatever their lot they keep one spotT
Down deep that is sweet an' tenderP
-
We was speakin' of folks jes' common folksA
An' we come to this conclusionB
That one an' all be they great or smallU
Will warm to a home allusionB
That under the skin an' the beaten hideD
They're kin in a real affectionB
For the joys they knewN
When their years were fewN
An' the home of their recollectionB
