'Of working for their bed and board | A |
They'll weary of the money chase | B |
And want to find a resting place | B |
Where hum of wheel is never heard | C |
And no one speaks an angry word | C |
And selfishness and greed and pride | D |
And petty motives don't abide | D |
They'll need a place where they can go | E |
To wash their souls as white as snow | E |
They will be better men and true | F |
If they can play a day or two ' | G |

The Lord then made the brooks to flow | E |
And fashioned rivers here below | E |
And many lakes for water seems | H |
Best suited for a mortal's dreams | H |
He placed about them willow trees | I |
To catch the murmur of the breeze | I |
And sent the birds that sing the best | J |
Among the foliage to nest | J |
He filled each pond and stream and lake | K |
With fish for man to come and take | K |
Then stretched a velvet carpet deep | L |
On which a weary soul could sleep | L |

That man would want something to do | F |
When worn and wearied with the stress | M |
Of battling hard for world success | M |
When sick at heart of all the strife | N |
And pettiness of daily life | N |
He knew he'd need from time to time | O |
To cleanse himself of city grime | O |
And he would want some place to be | P |
Where hate and greed he'd never see | P |
And so on lakes and streams and brooks | Q |
The Good Lord fashioned fishing nooks | Q |
