Fishing Nooks Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEEFG EEHHIIJJKKLL FFMMNNOOPPQQ

'Men will grow weary ' said the LordA
'Of working for their bed and boardA
They'll weary of the money chaseB
And want to find a resting placeB
Where hum of wheel is never heardC
And no one speaks an angry wordC
And selfishness and greed and prideD
And petty motives don't abideD
They'll need a place where they can goE
To wash their souls as white as snowE
They will be better men and trueF
If they can play a day or two 'G
-
The Lord then made the brooks to flowE
And fashioned rivers here belowE
And many lakes for water seemsH
Best suited for a mortal's dreamsH
He placed about them willow treesI
To catch the murmur of the breezeI
And sent the birds that sing the bestJ
Among the foliage to nestJ
He filled each pond and stream and lakeK
With fish for man to come and takeK
Then stretched a velvet carpet deepL
On which a weary soul could sleepL
-
It seemed to me the Good Lord knewF
That man would want something to doF
When worn and wearied with the stressM
Of battling hard for world successM
When sick at heart of all the strifeN
And pettiness of daily lifeN
He knew he'd need from time to timeO
To cleanse himself of city grimeO
And he would want some place to beP
Where hate and greed he'd never seeP
And so on lakes and streams and brooksQ
The Good Lord fashioned fishing nooksQ
