A Successful Dad Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

OTHERS may laugh at my feeble endeavorA
To capture life's prizes and others may sneerB
The whole world may loudly declare I shall neverA
Be worthy the gunpowder to blow me from hereC
It may be I 'm punk as a parlor reciterC
And when I begin grown ups take to the woodsD
But that baby of mine I can always delight herC
She vows I 'm a wonder she swears I 'm the goodsD
-
It may be I can't keep a tune for a minuteE
It may be my voice wanders far from the keyF
It may be the nightingale lark and the linnetG
As songsters have quite a wide margin on meF
Caruso and others may take down the moneyF
For singing their ditties to high brows but IH
Have one little audience cheerful and sunnyF
Who 'd rather hear me than the music you buyH
-
She thinks I 'm a corker a lalapaloosaD
She nightly applauds every stunt that I doI
She 'd rather hear me than your John Philip SousaD
To her the old nonsense forever is newI
That baby of mine thinks I 'm great in whateverC
I tackle the moment we've finished our teaF
And though others may laugh at my feeble endeavorC
The praise of my little one satisfies meF
-
And so though the big world goes by me unheedingF
And never a grown up takes notice of meF
Though into my work failure others are readingF
I 'm still a success to the babe on my kneeF
When worn out and weary my long day is endedJ
And homeward I turn I forget my distressD
For I know that my baby still thinks I am splendidJ
To her anyhow I 'm a corking successD
