A Scare Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

There are noises that freeze up the bloodA
There's the sound of the burglar at nightB
As he's picking the lock and the thudA
Of a wind worried door I thought tightB
But there's nothing that frightens me moreC
Nor causes such horrible dreadD
As the bumpety bump on the floorC
When the baby falls out of his bedD
-
The coal pile may rattle and rollE
As it will in its uncanny wayF
But I keep my nerves under controlE
The neighbor's pet canine may bayF
At the moon and I merely turn o'erG
But I lose absolutely my headD
At that bumpety bump on the floorC
When the baby falls out of his bedD
-
A shot may ring out in the streetH
And 'murder' a woman may yellI
I may listen to scurrying feetH
But I handle myself rather wellI
A dark house I'll even exploreC
But my heart stops as though I were deadD
At that bumpety bump on the floorC
When the baby falls out of his bedD
-
I know that the old mothers sayF
That once every baby must fallJ
That they seldom are hurt in that wayF
And really don't mind it at allJ
But still terror closes each poreC
And my hair stands up straight on my headD
At that bumpety bump on the floorC
When the baby falls out of his bedD
