A Boy And His Dog Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCC AADDCC EEFFCC

A boy and his dog make a glorious pairA
No better friendship is found anywhereA
For they talk and they walk and they run and they playB
And they have their deep secrets for many a dayB
And that boy has a comrade who thinks and who feelsC
Who walks down the road with a dog at his heelsC
-
He may go where he will and his dog will be thereA
May revel in mud and his dog will not careA
Faithful he'll stay for the slightest commandD
And bark with delight at the touch of his handD
Oh he owns a treasure which nobody stealsC
Who walks down the road with a dog at his heelsC
-
No other can lure him away from his sideE
He's proof against riches and station and prideE
Fine dress does not charm him and flattery's breathF
Is lost on the dog for he's faithful to deathF
He sees the great soul which the body concealsC
Oh it's great to be young with a dog at your heelsC
