Describes the ability of a series of endocrine-derived compounds, i.e. CHRH, LHRH, somatostatin, anti-androgens, and aromatase inhibitors to exert a direct anti-neoplastic activity or to potentiate the activity of traditional chemotherapeutic agents on neuroendocrine and solid tumors. In addition, a new class of potent GH-releasers, GSHs/Ghrelin, endowed with important endocrine and extra-endcocrine action, is presented. Therefore, in addition to traditional chemotherapy, characterized by high toxicity and non-selective action on tumoral cells, the reader can find a new approach with more selective, less cytotoxic endocrine derived compounds.

What do four little girls discover when they spend an afternoon by the sea? Maggie, a shell; Milly, a star; Molly, a "horrible thing"; and May, a smooth round stone. This seemingly simple story by American poet Edward Estlin Cummings (1894 1962), showcasing his signature quirky style, is delightful as well as profound. Readers will enjoy the day at the beach for its innate pleasures, but on contemplation may realize that objects encountered by the girls reflect parts of themselves. Marcia Perry's bright, engaging illustrations enhance the poem with her playful and introspective portraits of the characters; her beach setting sings with the ocean tide and the seagulls' squawks.

"The Norton Critical Edition of E. E. Cummings: Selected Works contains 164 of his poems (prefaced by a consideration of the development of his idiosyncratic style), excerpts from his dramatic, nonfiction, and personal writings, and several examples of his visual art in order to offer readers a comprehensive look at his many contributions to American literary modernism. The texts all come from the authoritative Liveright editions, and this volume is the first to present them with annotations. "Criticism" provides a scholarly survey of the work of E. E. Cummings, including contemporary reviews, several interpretive essays, and comparative studies of two poems that encourage close reading. The essays illuminate key aspects of E. E. Cummings' poetry and (re)evaluate him as a writer whose work spanned many fruitful decades but who is now best remembered for his inventive typographic style. A chronology and selected bibliography are also included"--

Originally published in Cumming's 1935 "No Thanks "collection, "may i feel said he "is one of the poet's most original and best loved works.Marc Chagall's floating lovers and violin-playing horses are the perfect complement to Cumming's whimiscal poem. Chagall's lyrical work always reflected the artist's fascination with the many facets of love. "Is it not true that painting and color are inspired by love?" he wrote in 1973, at the age of 85. The twenty-three diverse paintings in this collection include many works that have rarely been seen in public."may i feel said he "is a stunning marriage of art and poetry and a giddy celebration of love.
