The Message Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CBCB DADA EBEB FGFG HAHA

Wind of the gentle summer nightA
Dwell in the lilac treeB
Sway the blossoms clustered lightA
Then blow over to meB
-
Wind you are sometimes strong and greatC
You frighten the ships at seaB
Now come floating your delicate freightC
Out of the lilac treeB
-
Wind you must waver a gossamer sailD
To ferry a scent so lightA
Will you carry my love a message as frailD
Through the hawk haunted nightA
-
For my heart is sometimes strange and wildE
Bitter and bold and freeB
I scare the beautiful timid childE
As you frighten the ships at seaB
-
But now when the hawks are piercing the airF
With the golden stars aboveG
The only thing that my heart can bearF
Is a lilac message of loveG
-
Gentle wind will you carry thisH
Up to her window whiteA
Give her a gentle tender kissH
Bid her good night good nightA
