Retrospect Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCABBA DEDEDF

This is the mockery of the moving yearsA
Youth's colour dies the fervid morning glowB
Is gone from off the foreland slow slowB
Even slower than the fount of human tearsC
To empty the consuming shadow nearsA
That Time is casting on the worldly showB
Of pomp and glory But falter not belowB
That thought is based a deeper thought that cheersA
-
Glean thou thy past that will alone inureD
To catch thy heart up from a dark distressE
It were enough to find one deed matureD
Deep rooted mighty 'mid the toil and pressE
To save one memory of the sweet and pureD
From out life's failure and its bitternessF
