Veil like and beautifulA
Gathered the dutifulA
Mist in the nightB
True to the messagingC
Dreamful and presagingC
Vapour and lightB
-
Ghostly and chill it isD
Pallid and still it isD
Sudden upristB
What is there tragicalA
Moving or magicalA
Hid in the mistB
-
Millions of essencesD
Fairy like presencesD
Formless as yetB
Light riven spanglesD
Crystalline tanglesD
Floating unsetB
-
Frost will come shepherdingC
Nowise enjeopardingC
Frondage or flowerE
Just a degree of itB
Nought can we see of itB
Only its powerE
-
Earth like a SwimmerE
Plunged into the dimmerE
Wave of the nightB
Now is uprisenF
An Elysian visionF
Of spray and of lightB
-
'Tis the intangibleA
Delicate frangibleA
Secret of mistB
Breathing may banish itB
Thought may evanish itB
Ponder and whistB
-
Passionless purityB
Calmness in suretyB
Dwells everywhereG
A winnowed whitenessD
A lunar lightnessD
Glows in the airG
-
But in the heart of itB
Every least part of itB
Blooms with the charmH
Star shape and frondageI
Broken from bondageI
Forged into formJ
-
Crystals encrustedB
Diamonds dustedB
Line everythingC
Tiny the stencillingsD
Are as the pencillingsD
On a moth's wingC
-
And O what a wonderE
No farther asunderE
Than atoms are laidB
The arches and anglesD
Of star froth and spanglesD
Cast their own shadeB
-
Out from the chalicesD
The pigmy palacesD
Where the tint hidesD
Opal and sapphireE
Half pearl and half fireE
The colour slidesD
-
Till the frail miracleA
Rapturous lyricalA
Flushes and glowsD
With a wraith of florescenceD
That tempers or lessensD
The light of the snowsD
-
Held all aquiverE
But now with a shiverE
The power of the sunF
Dissolves the lacesD
Of the tender mazesD
All is undoneF
-
But the old Earth broodingC
All wisdom includingC
Affirms and assuresD
That above the materialA
Triumphal imperialA
Beauty enduresD
