Fantasia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCDEFBBBBC DBDDBDCC CGCGCCHCCBBC

Here in Samarcand they offer emeraldsA
Pure as frozen drops of sea waterB
Rubies pale as dew ponds stained with slaughterB
Where the fairies fought for a king's daughterB
In the elfin uplandC
Here they sell you jade and calcedonyD
And the matrix of the turquoiseE
Spheres of onyx held in eagles' clawsF
But they keep the gems as far asunderB
From the dull stones as the lightning from the thunderB
They can never come togetherB
On the mats of Turkish leatherB
In the booths of SamarcandC
-
Here they sell you balls of nard and honeyD
And squat jars of clarid butterB
And the cheese from KurdistanD
When you offer Frankish moneyD
Then they scowl and curse and mutterB
Deep in Kurdish or PersanD
For they want your heart out and my handC
In the booths of SamarcandC
-
They would sell your heart's blood separateC
In a jar with a gold brimG
With a text of burning hatredC
Coiled around the rimG
They would sell my hand upon a beam of teak woodC
In the other scale a feather curledC
They would sell your heart upon a silver balanceH
Weighed against the worldC
But your heart could never touch my handC
They could never come togetherB
On the mats of Turkish leatherB
In the booths of SamarcandC
