When You Are On The Sea Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGI JDKD ADAD

How can I laugh or dance as others doA
Or ply my rock or reelB
My heart will still return to dreams of youA
Beside my spinning wheelB
-
My little dog he cried out in the darkC
He would not whisht for meD
I took him to my side why did he barkC
When you were on the seaD
-
I fear the red cock if he crow to nightE
I keep him close and warmF
'Twere ill with me if he should wake in frightE
And you out in the stormF
-
I dare not smile for fear my laugh would ringG
Across your dying earsH
O if you drifting drowned should hear me singG
And think I had not tearsI
-
I never thought the sea could wake such wavesJ
Nor that such winds could beD
I never wept when other eyes grew blindK
For some one on the seaD
-
But now I fear and pray all things for youA
How many dangers beD
I set my wheel aside what can I doA
When you are on the seaD
