I Am The World Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CACA DEDE FAAA CBCB AAAA AGAH IJIJ KDKD IBLB

I am the song that rests upon the cloudA
I am the sunB
I am the dawn the day the hiding shroudA
When dusk is doneB
-
I am the changing colours of the treeC
The flower uncurledA
I am the melancholy of the seaC
I am the worldA
-
The other souls that passing in their placeD
Each in their grooveE
Out stretching hands that chain me and embraceD
Speak and reproveE
-
O atom of that law by which the earthF
Is poised and whirledA
Behold you hurrying with the crowd assertA
You are the worldA
-
Am I not one with all the things that beC
Warm in the sunB
All that my ears can hear or eyes can seeC
Till all be doneB
-
Of song and shine of changing leaf apartA
Of bud uncurledA
With all the senses pulsing at my heartA
I am the worldA
-
One day the song that drifts upon the windA
I shall not hearG
Nor shall the rosy shoots to eyes grown blindA
Again appearH
-
Deaf in the dark I shall arise and throwI
From off my soulJ
The withered world with all its joy and woeI
That was my goalJ
-
I shall arise and like a shooting starK
Slip from my placeD
So lingering see the old world from afarK
Revolve in spaceD
-
And know more things than all the wise may knowI
Till all be doneB
Till One shall come who breathing on the starsL
Blows out the sunB
