He heard it first upon the lips of loveA
And loved it for love's sakeB
A faithful word that knows nor time nor changeC
Nor lone heart breakB

It sung across his heart strings like a breathD
Of Heaven's faithfulness that whispered NeverE
To part to lose to linger from your gazeF
She said I love for everE

He heard it then upon the lips of deathD
Of things that fade and dieG
A word of sorrow never to be stilledH
An ever echoing sighG

And loneliness within his soul did dwellI
And struck upon his heart strings crying NeverE
To meet to have to hold to see againJ
She said Good bye for everE
