A Bird From The West Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH FJKK LMIN OKPK EQEQ

At the grey dawn amongst the felling leavesA
A little bird outside my window swungB
High on a topmost branch he trilled his songC
And Ireland Ireland Ireland ever sungB
-
Take me I cried back to my island homeD
Sweet bird my soul shall ride between thy wingsE
For my lone spirit wide his pinions spreadF
And home and home and home he ever singsE
-
We lingered over Ulster stern and wildG
I called Arise doth none remember meH
One turn d in the darkness murmuringI
How loud upon the breakers sobs the seaH
-
We rested over Connaught whispering saidF
Awake awake and welcome I am hereJ
One woke and shivered at the morning greyK
The trees I never heard them sigh so drearK
-
We flew low over Munster Long I weptL
You used to love me love me once againM
They spoke from out the shadows wonderingI
You'd think of tears so bitter falls the rainN
-
Long over Leinster lingered we Good byeO
My best beloved good bye for evermoreK
Sleepless they tossed and whispered to the dawnP
So sad a wind was never heard beforeK
-
Was it a dream I dreamt For yet there swingsE
In the grey morn a bird upon the boughQ
And Ireland Ireland Ireland ever singsE
Oh fair the breaking day in Ireland nowQ
