The Mother-s Visit Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDD ABEBDD

LONG years ago she visited my chamberA
Steps soft and slow a taper in her handB
Her fond kiss she laid upon my eyelidsC
Fair as an angel from the unknown landB
Mother mother is it thou I seeD
Mother mother watching over meD
-
And yesternight I saw her cross my chamberA
Soundless as light a palm branch in her handB
Her mild eyes she bent upon my anguishE
Calm as an angel from the blessed landB
Mother mother is it thou I seeD
Mother mother art thou come for meD
