FU' yellow lie the corn rigsA
Far doun the braid hillsideB
It is the brawest harst fieldC
Alang the shores o'ClydeB
And I'm a puir harst lassieD
That stan's the lee lang dayE
Shearing the corn rigs of ArdbegF
Aboon sweet Rothesay BayE
-
O I had ance a true loveG
Now I hae nane avaH
And I had ance three brithersD
But I hae tint them a'I
My father and my mitherJ
Sleep i' the mools this dayE
-
I sit my lane amang the rigsD
Aboon sweet Rothesay BayE
-
It's a bonnie bay at morningF
And bonnier at the noonK
But it's bonniest when the sun drapsD
And red comes up the moonK
When the mist creeps o'er the CambraysD
And Arran peaks are grayE
And the great black hills like sleepin' kingsD
Sit grand roun' Rothesay BayE
-
Then a bit sigh stirs my bosomL
And a wee tear blin's my e'eD
And I think o'that far CountrieE
What I wad like to beD
But I rise content i' the morningF
To wark while wark I mayE
I' the yellow harst field of ArdbegF
Aboon sweet Rothesay BayE
