October Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDBEFGF HIJIEIEFKF LMNOPOEFQFIT is no joy to me to sit | A |
On dreamy summer eves | B |
When silently the timid moon | C |
Kisses the sleeping leaves | B |
And all things through the fair hushed earth | D |
Love rest but nothing grieves | B |
Better I like old Autumn | E |
With his hair tossed to and fro | F |
Firm striding o'er the stubble fields | G |
When the equinoctials blow | F |
- | |
When shrinkingly the sun creeps up | H |
Through misty mornings cold | I |
And Robin on the orchard hedge | J |
Sings cheerily and bold | I |
While the frosted plum | E |
Drops downward on the mould | I |
And as he passes Autumn | E |
Into earth's lap does throw | F |
Brown apples gay in a game of play | K |
As the equinoctials blow | F |
- | |
When the spent year its carol sinks | L |
Into a humble psalm | M |
Asks no more for the pleasure draught | N |
But for the cup of balm | O |
And all its storms and sunshine bursts | P |
Controls to one brave calm | O |
Then step by step walks Autumn | E |
With steady eyes that show | F |
Nor grief nor fear to the death of the year | Q |
While the equinoctials blow | F |
