In Memoriam Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: A BAACCDDAAB BEFAAAAAABBAAGGHHAABObiit | A |
- | |
HEAVEN rest thee | B |
We shall go about today | A |
In our festal garlands gay | A |
Whatsoever robes we wear | C |
Not a trace of black be there | C |
Well what matters none is seen | D |
On thy daisy covering green | D |
Or thy pure white pillow hid | A |
Underneath a cofin lid | A |
Heaven rest thee | B |
- | |
Heaven take thee | B |
Ay heaven only Sleeps beneath | E |
One who died a virgin death | F |
Died so slowly day by day | A |
That it scarcely seemed decay | A |
Till this lonely churchyard kind | A |
Opened and we left behind | A |
Nothing but a little dust | A |
Heaven is pitiful and just | A |
Heaven take thee | B |
Heaven keep thee | B |
Nevermore above the ground | A |
Be one relic of thee found | A |
Lay the turf so smooth we crave | G |
None would guess it was a grave | G |
Save for grass that greener grows | H |
Or for wind that gentlier blows | H |
All the earth o'er from this spot | A |
Where thou wert and thou art not | A |
Heaven keep thee | B |
