Day By Day Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHGH IJKJ LMNO ABPB

EVERY day has its dawnA
Its soft and silent eveB
Its noontide hours of bliss or baleC
Why should we grieveB
-
Why do we heap huge mounds of yearsD
Before us and behindE
And scorn the little days that passF
Like angels on the windE
-
Each turning round a small sweet faceG
As beautiful as nearH
Because it is so small a faceG
We will not see it clearH
-
We will not clasp it as it fliesI
And kiss its lips and browJ
We will not bathe our wearied soulsK
In its delicious NowJ
-
And so it turns from us and goesL
Away in sad disdainM
Though we would give our lives for itN
It never comes againO
-
Yet every day has its dawnA
Its noontide and its eveB
Live while we live giving God thanksP
He will not let us grieveB
