An Aurora Borealis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFDF GHGH BIBI JKLK MDMD

O STRANGE soft gleam o ghostly dawnA
That never brightens unto dayB
Ere earth's mirk pale once more be drawnA
Let us look out beyond the grayB
-
It is just midnight by the clockC
There is no sound on glen or hillD
The moaning linn adown its rockC
Leaps but the woods lie dark and stillD
-
Austere against the kindling skyE
Yon broken turret blacker growsF
Harsh light to show remorselesslyD
Ruins night hid in kind reposeF
-
Nay beauteous light nay light that fillsG
The whole heaven like a dream of mornH
As waking upon northern hillsG
She smiles to find herself new bornH
-
Strange light I know thou wilt not stayB
That many an hour must come and goI
Before the pale November dayB
Break in the east forlorn and slowI
-
Yet blest one gleam one gleam like thisJ
When all heaven brightens in our sightK
And the long night that was and isL
And shall be vanishes in lightK
-
O blest one hour like this to riseM
And see grief's shadows backward rollD
While bursts on unaccustomed eyesM
The glad Aurora of the soulD
