Death found him there without grandeur or beauty | B |
Only an honest man doing his duty | B |

Just a God fearing man simple and lowly | B |
Constant at kirk and hearth kindly as holy | B |

Death found and touched him with finger in flying | E |
Lo he rose up complete hero undying | E |

Now all men mourn for him lovingly raise him | D |
Up from his life obscure chronicle praise him | D |

Tell his last act done midst peril appalling | E |
And the last word of cheer from his lips falling | E |

Follow in multitudes to his grave's portal | F |
