Rhyme Scheme: AAB CDEFGAHI JAJAKJJJ JLJJMNOP QAAJAJLR

'Emelie that fayrer was to seeneA
Than is the lilye on hys stalke greneA
Uprose the sun and uprose Emelie 'B
-
DOST thou thus love me O thou beautifulC
So beautiful that by thy side I seemD
Like a great ducky cloud beside a starE
Yet thou creep'st o'er its edges and it restsF
On its lone path the slow deep hearted cloudG
Then opes a rift and lets thee enter inA
And with thy beauty shining on its breastH
Feels no more its own blackness thou art fairI
-
Dost thou thus love me O thou all belovedJ
In whose large store the very meanest coinA
Would out buy my whole wealth Yet here thou comestJ
Like a kind heiress from her purple and downA
Uprising who for pity cannot sleepK
But goes forth to the stranger at her gateJ
The beggared stranger at her beauteous gateJ
And clothes and feeds scarce blest till she has blestJ
-
Dost thou thus love me O thou pure of heartJ
Whose very looks are prayers What couldst thou seeL
In this forsaken pool by the yew wood's sideJ
To sit down at its bank and dip thy handJ
Saying 'it is so clear ' And lo erelongM
Its blackness caught the shimmer of they wingsN
Its slimes slid downward from thy stainless palmO
Its depths grew still that there thy form might riseP
-
O beautiful O well beloved O richQ
In all that makes my need I lay me downA
I' the shadow of thy love and feel no painA
The cloud floats on thee glittering on its breastJ
The beggar wears thy purple as his ownA
The noisome waves made calm creep to thy feetJ
Rejoicing that they yet can image theeL
And beyond thee God's heaven thick sown with starsR
