A Dead Sea-gull Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCCBA DEFFED GEEEEG HFIIJH KLMMLK

LACK LUSTRE eye and idle wingA
And smirch d breast that skims no moreB
White as the foam itself the waveC
Hast thou not even a graveC
Upon the dreary shoreB
Forlorn forsaken thingA
-
Thou whom the deep seas could not drownD
Nor all the elements affrightE
Flashing like thought across the mainF
Mocking the hurricaneF
Screaming with shrill delightE
When the great ship went downD
-
Thee not thy beauty saved nor mirthG
Nor daring nor thy humble lotE
One among thousands in quick hasteE
Fate clutched thee as she passedE
Dead how it matters notE
Corrupting earth to earthG
-
And not a league from where it liesH
Lie bodies once as free from stainF
And hearts as gay as this sea bird'sI
Whom all the preachers' wordsI
Will ne'er make white againJ
Or from the dead to riseH
-
Rot pretty bird in harmless clayK
We sing too much poetic woesL
Let us be doing while we canM
Blessed the Christian manM
Who on life's shore seeks thoseL
Dying of soul decayK
